The Lodge - Facilities
You enter the homestead into a large entrance hall with exquisite hand painted lead lights and graced with wooden panels and elegant carved archways. To the right is the sitting room which has a large log fire to ensure warmth in the winter months, here guests may relax and enjoy the outlook into the garden.
Guest accommodation spills out onto a deep north facing veranda and then on to the park like gardens. Terrace seating enables guests to enjoy an outdoor breakfast or lap up the Hawke's Bay sunshine with a glass of wine.
The homestead offers guests two more interesting features, a viewing turret and billiard room. The viewing turret is three stories high; guests may climb to the turret that sports a small sitting room complete with viewing telescope. A floor to ceiling window lifts up to provide egress to a balcony that affords a panoramic view of the Hawke's Bay countryside and at night the lights of the Bay cities.
The old stables of the homestead have been converted into a gymnasium. This room affords a view of the hills which stretches for miles and takes in a Hawke's Bay landmark, distinctive Te Mata Peak. Guests may also enjoy an outdoor recreational area which incorporates a swimming pool, log fireplace and seating for guests to relax.
