Transported in a 1934 Buick and escorted by Bertie, the Napier Art Deco Ambassador, this tour delves into the Art Deco legacy left to Napier when it was rebuilt following the devastating 1931 earthquake. This is a fascinating glimpse into the architecture and fashion of this glamorous era.
Nowhere else can you see such a variety of buildings in the styles of the 1930s - Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission, and above all Art Deco - in such a concentrated area. Napier's Art Deco also has a unique twist, with Maori motifs adorning some of the buildings.
The tour takes in the city, Napier Hill and Marine Parade, as well as historic Ahuriri and the houses and gardens of Marewa, the Art Deco suburb.
This is not a group tour and offers full flexibility to cater for personal interests. Lunch is not included, giving you the opportunity to choose your perfect option – maybe a picnic hamper in a picturesque garden, or cruising in the Buick to an award winning winery.
